The National Chess League continues this Sunday 31st July 2011 with third and fourth round games at Hotel Africana.

Early pace setters, Mulago Knights take on Mulago Queens, largely composed of Uganda’s ladies team led by Ivy Amoko, Grace Kigeni, Rita Nsubuga and Gorretti Angolikin in the third round starting at 10:00 am.

Second placed Mulago Kings, a star studded side led by Harorld Wanyama, Patrick Kawuma, Grace Nsubuga and Arthur Ssegwanyi take on Mulago Rooks as third placed City Chess Club battle against fellow new comers Bank of Uganda Chess Club.

UCU Mukono Knights are up against Kireka Chess Club, Aviation against Uganda Chess Academy, Barclays Bank against MUK, Makindye plays Mengo as Enkabi take on Mulago Pawns. Fourth round games will be played in the afternoon starting at 3:00 pm.

Meanwhile, 19 year old Elijah Emojong who recently shined at the Zone 4.2 Chess Championship in Khartoum and at the Africa Individual Chess Championship in Maputo, Mozambique is flying to India on Sunday 31st July 2011 to represent Uganda in the World Junior Chess Championship in Chennai that runs from 1st to 16th August 2011.

He will play a total of 13 games in the event that attracts the world’s top players under 20 years. The majority of the world’s top chess players have participated in this event over the years.

Emojong’s participation in the event is the first time a Ugandan is competing in the World Junior Chess Championship.
